Being an English teacher is my occupation and vocation. I am a Master of Arts in English teaching and Applied Linguistics, Griffith University, Australia. After graduation, I taught at Griffith University and a variety of language academies in Australia, England, Scotland, Spain in addition to being a private tutor. Overall, I've spent 8 years teaching students from different countries, cultural backgrounds, levels of proficiency and age groups.
In my teaching, I follow an effective method mastered during my studies and teaching practice - a communicative student-centred approach. It means I don't explain grammar and vocabulary in a traditional way. Instead, I make YOU think, reflect, realise, learn and arrive at conclusions not just receive given results from the teacher. I put you in the centre and help you to feel the language, comprehend its core and the way it functions.
During the classes, we will have a lot of practical work, so you will learn how to behave appropriately in any real-life situation. In other words, you'll be able to cope with whatever life throws at you in English.
Moreover, I pay a lot of attention to your pronunciation: I will correct your sounds and meticulously work on the improvement of your accent until it's native-like. I can teach you four distinct types of English accents: British, Australian, American and Canadian since creation and modelling of native English accents is one of my key areas of expertise. The only thing left for you to do is to choose which accent you would like to become an expert in :)
There is always a specific home assignment after every class in order to reinforce the acquired skills. In addition, every month a test class based on your individual requirements is conducted so we can clearly monitor the course of your progress and readjust it if necessary.
Furthermore, some classes are innovative and represent cutting-edge achievements in English teaching. They are called visual thematic speaking development sessions. The grammar and vocabulary used in these classes are smoothly woven into the fabric of the British, Australian, American and Canadian cultural topics.
The feedback I’ve been getting from these extraordinary classes is more than satisfying - my students not only find them fun, unusual and top-notch, but also surprisingly simple and strikingly memorable. I'd be glad to introduce YOU to the exciting world of visual thematic learning - after you try it out, your learning experience will never be the same.
P.S. Check out my video CVs in English and Spanish languages via my youtube channel helenoz.
In addition, take a look at my interview responses in the bottom of the page after the "recommendations" section - you'll find loads of handy information there!
In my article: "In your opinion, what does it take to be a successful English speaker?" I give 11 useful tips. I came up with them over the years thanks to my teaching practice and students' feedback.
I recently compiled my personal reflection "Alice in Wonderland" for my students to help them learn as many helpful phrases as possible in the easiest and quickest way possible from just one source.
It contains more than 100 (!) phrasal verbs, collocations, set expressions, phrases and idioms, which I meticulously hand-picked. All of them are widely used and up to date. Moreover, they are exceptionally easy to remember thanks to the context I’ve put them in. And there is no need to jump all over the net and navigate through dozens of websites to find the expressions/idioms – they are already at your fingertips.
So, make sure you check them out and if you liked the reflection, get in touch straight away :) I have heaps of fun and extraordinary activities related to it, which will significantly boost up your vocabulary and greatly improve your English speaking skills.

¡Perfecto! She is energetic and a really good teacher..
Took one session and I can already feel the difference¡Perfecto! Time with Helen is an experience, not a lesson!
For the last 12 years of living in the UK, I have taken pride in learning how to speak, write and structure my English at the highest level. Yet, I have always felt that I was missing something.
Looking for an English teacher who can help me and understand my needs had never yielded any results, until one day I decided to search again and came across Helen’s profile.
Helen is truly a dream teacher. She takes utmost care when preparing and presenting new topics, while spicing everything up with modern techniques that I have never seen used before. Our classes feel like a journey, as they keep me captivated no matter the workload, while allowing me to still remember everything even far into the future.
I have never thought that I could actually improve my existent level of English from ‘great’ to excellent. Nevertheless, Helen continues to prove every session that we can always push much further. Idioms, grammar, C1+ level words, nuanced pronunciation. It is as if a new part of the world, that I had never known existed before, opened up to me. No day goes by without me coming across something new that we have just recently learnt which allows me to both understand other people and express my thoughts like never before.
To a good extent, Helen is a friend. She cares, she listens to your needs, and most importantly, she is always there. It is her openness as a person that enabled me to look out for new words and phrases that I come across day-to-day, which I am encouraged to send to her through Skype so that we can study it the next day.
Helen is a teacher who will help you see and become the best English version of yourself, and I would never hesitate to recommend her as your English teacher.
Thank you and good luck!¡Perfecto! I have learned so much in my classes with Helen. She is very professional and paces the right style, so you feel challenged but not overwhelmed. In so many other courses, you just read from a textbook, but in his classes, she asks questions and gets the students to respond, which is both fun and promotes faster learning. She is patient and eager to help. I’m thrilled to have found her class!
¡Perfecto! Helen has a superpower: her superpower is to teach you English in an organized and fun way. I have never had such a well-prepared English teacher.
We started with the grammar. It was a huge obstacle for me as in Swiss-German we use tenses differently. After a while, we continued with writing and describing line-graphs together with bar-charts. Her teaching isn't just a form of explanation, it is very interactive and that's what made our speaking, listening and writing practice interesting and enjoyable. Helen also has a big source of excersice materials, which really helped me to revise the topics we studied after the class.
Initially, my goal was to pass my English exam at the university. Before the exam, I felt that Helen prepared me properly, that’s why I had a very good feeling during and after it.
At the same time, I noticed that my English singificantly improved in general, not just the skills needed for the exam. I understood the tik tok videos in English much better, was more familiar with the phrases and expressions that I didn’t know before and felt more confident during my conversations.
Thank you Helen for your time, your patience and your kindness!¡Perfecto! Hi! I’m Alexandra. I would like to start with the fact that when I was looking for help with my English, I needed a teacher, who would take my already decent skills to a totally new level - native-like proficiency. A task many teachers are hesitant to take on as it requires experience and expertise which not every teacher has.
I have had the pleasure to get help from Helen on my grammar and accuracy as well my pronunciation, so this review is going to be about all 3 of my experiences.
First of all, I think one of the best parts of Helen’s lessons is the quality that you are getting. Her classes are like the “Birkins” of classes - it is not a mass-market experience. I find that often with regular language classes you just get a simple delivery of what is already in grammar books with an added bonus of being able to ask questions and be corrected along the way. Helen’s knowledge, on the other hand, is WAY beyond textbooks and more importantly, she is willing to share it with her students (not all teachers are, teaching that really deep level stuff is a pain). With Helen, you learn that grammatical structures and tenses are so much more than just communicating an event’s time or location. They can impact the meaning of what is being said quite dramatically. Plot twist - if you didn’t know that, the chances are that you are missing about 30% of what native speakers say even if you think that you understand every single word.
When we began our journey, I was not sure if some of the bits of grammar Helen suggested we practice were necessary because I thought I knew them already, as I have been living in an English speaking country and using English every single day for the last 10 years. Only after we dug deeper into it did I realise that first of all, I was still making many mistakes. Even more importantly, I discovered that the way I was used to communicating in English was extremely restricting because I did not have a real understanding of different grammatical structures and the shades of meanings that they have. I was limited to using the same structures and the same phrases within those structures, which means that there were so many ideas I was unable to express simply because I didn’t know the nuances that would allow me to convey my thoughts precisely. It is hard to explain, but Helen almost magically identified which bits of grammar I needed the most and then found ways to explain them to me so clearly that I was able to start implementing this new knowledge almost right away, despite having a years-long habit of saying some things completely wrong. Essentially, Helen had to reteach and reshape the knowledge I already had, as opposed to teaching me from the foundation (everyone knows that working on fixing your ingrained errors is always harder). After a few months, I feel like my accuracy has improved dramatically, and I am now able to express my thoughts so much better as I have a much broader grammatical range. It is very empowering as I feel like I can really be myself now and the thoughts I express are truly my own compared to their generic, simplified versions I used to be restricted to.
Another huge advantage - by teaching me all the different meanings that grammatical structures can have, Helen helped me tremendously with understanding other people around me, therefore improving my relationships.
Bonus point - sometimes I get to feel like an expert when I know why a specific structure was used in a particular sentence better than my partner, who is a native speaker.
Now onto the accent. Since Helen started doing the accent training with me, I noticed that other people are able to understand me so much better and are paying more attention to what I am saying! Love that for my work. And bear in mind that my accent was not really that strong to begin with, but the added clarity and sharpness made a huge difference. Not to mention how FUN she made this process, albeit challenging.
Helen gives you tools that stay with you forever, so you are able to continue improving your skills outside the classroom. So I feel like I keep learning and mastering my skills on my own so much more now, because I know what to pay attention to, and what to look for when I hear other people speak. And it comes so naturally that it does not even feel like a homework - it feels as though it’s becoming my second nature. As a consequence, my learning is not only limited to our 1-hour class, but I also get to learn and improve independently so that the rest of my day contributes to my progress.
In conclusion, I am someone who has had a lot of teachers, and I mean A LOT, as throughout my life I’ve been learning multiple languages and have had various hobbies. Without exaggeration, I believe that Helen is one of the best, if not the best teacher I have ever had - in terms of the depth of her knowledge, unparalleled observation skills and the ability to explain complex things in a way that each particular student will understand.¡Perfecto! Dear Helen,
Thank you so much for responding to my review.
I have indeed observed the real-life application of our classes. My university lecturers highlighted the improvement in my speaking skills and particularly emphasised my newly-coined British accent.
More importantly, I have noticed how improvement in my vocabulary helped me to come up with high level courseworks. I highly appreciate your hard work and I wish you a lot of success in your field in the future.- Respuesta de Helen :
She contacted me so I could help her to model a British accent, expand her vocabulary and overall sound more professional and fluent while speaking English.
First of all, I can definitely say that with Alexandra we hit the ground running. Starting from the very first classes, she managed to grasp all the essentials needed to ensure that we put her British accent on the right track. It is an absolute joy to teach her since she’s a genuine fan of the English language and patently big on the British accent. I’m sure that’s one of the reasons why she managed to achieve such tremendous progress after only 2 months of classes.
It is essential for a teacher and a student to be on the same wavelength in order to tailor the classes to the student’s needs in the best way possible. With Sasha, it couldn’t have been easier since she’s very precise about her English needs and is highly motivated to overcome any difficulties she might face along the way. Moreover, her sunny personality contributes immensely as well - she’s always full of beans and her enthusiastic, positive and proactive attitude to learning makes teaching her a doddle.
I am very glad that our classes serve as an excellent foundation for Sasha’s future career success. We’ll keep working on getting her English skills and accent up and running since English native-like proficiency is a key to Alexandra’s success and by no means is she willing to settle for anything less.
¡Perfecto! THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP, HELEN!!! I could finally get that overall 6.5., but it wouldn’t have been possible without your help! I am very happy that by following your methods and techniques I could improve my skills and finally got the grade I needed. Moreover, now I feel more confident when speaking, especially in conversations with native speakers.
- Respuesta de Helen :
He contacted me so I could help him to improve his English skills and achieve a better grade in the IELTS exam.
His initial grade was 5.5 overall, so we started working hard to improve the grade in the best way we could within the shortest amount of time possible.
What struck me the most about Eduardo’s English skills was that he already had a reasonable command of vocabulary and grammar, but the majority of this knowledge was in the passive state. In other words, when he read or heard an expression or a phrasal verb he could understand it, but when it came to using that expression by himself - that where a real challenge began. Therefore, we had to apply significant effort to transfer that knowledge of grammar and vocabulary from passive to active use.
Moreover, since he’s a Spanish language speaker, his speech was pretty quick and sometimes the pronunciation of some sounds was quite distorted. Additionally, some other sounds were partially or completely lost, which caused some noticeable inaccuracies in his speech. That’s why pronunciation correction constituted an important part of our preparation and represents one of the main reasons why his speaking has dramatically improved.
Regarding IELTS exam preparation, the majority of Eduardo’s mistakes in the “Reading” and “Listening” sections were simply due to the fact that he didn’t know the proper techniques and methods necessary to achieve a higher grade. After we had thoroughly studied most of them, his reading and listening drastically improved and he managed to score 6.5 and 7.0 respectively.
In terms of his writing, we had to completely restructure it and meticulously work on improving its coherence and cohesion. Besides, we integrated a lot of new vocabulary and grammar into it, which definitely brought good results - 7.0 as an overall result.
To conclude, I’m overjoyed that Eduardo was able to achieve his goals. He’s an exceptionally devoted, organised and patient student, who no doubt deserves the grade he got. He works full-time and is usually extremely busy, which made it tremendously hard for him to juggle work, family and IELTS exam preparation. Nevertheless, despite all the challenges, he managed to successfully reach his aim.
At the moment, I’m teaching English to his lovely wife Fernanda, since in the future she’d also like to take the IELTS exam. I’m confident that we’d be able to get the best result possible as well and I’m very grateful to Eduardo that he trusted me to be his English and IELTS exam preparation tutor.
¡Perfecto! It was an honor to be Helen's student from April through July 2020. I used to have two classes per week.
During this short period, my English level improved significantly. I was able to pin down the subtle errors in the language that I used to make regularly. With little practice, it was possible to weave the newly learned techniques into the fabric of my speech. I was also able to pick up the right British accent with time. All thanks to those sessions, which were engaging and fun, to say the least!
I am glad that I found an English tutor like Helen who was able to take my English up a notch. I am also delighted to receive such a positive and beautifully written feedback from her, and I am looking forward to picking up where we left off soon.- Respuesta de Helen :
When Najwa contacted me, it was obvious that she already had a good command of the English language. That’s one of the reasons why I was keen to choose her as my student - I love challenges and it is always a bit of a challenge for every teacher to teach C1 - C2 level students since they always keep you on your toes, especially students with such an advanced level as Najwa’s :)
She was looking to improve her English skills since she realised that there were some gaps and inaccuracies in her knowledge that should have been fixed, but she didn’t know exactly where to start and how to proceed further.
I was happy to assist her and resolve her doubts. Eventually, we were able to find and solve some ingrained errors and noticeable inconsistencies in the areas of her grammar she had no idea existed.
I was overjoyed to note her immensely quick progress and her ability to successfully grasp new material with very little revision. That’s why we were able to proceed rapidly and have a lot done in a very short period of time.
For example, even without any serious accent creation and modeling practice, she managed to get the hang of how to pronounce some British English sounds and repeated them successfully which made her sound a little British. That’s outstanding and makes me wonder how great she would have been if we had actually arranged some proper pronunciation and accent modeling classes. I’m sure we would have made her sound as British-like as possible ;)
Overall, Najwa is an extremely kind, pleasant, fun, genuine, and proactive person. In addition, she’s very smart and intuitive, which makes her a natural when it comes to learning English. That’s a very rare talent which, in combination with her persistence and hard work, delivers excellent results.
I’d be happy to continue helping her to embrace that talent and hope she’d restart her CPE exam preparation in the near future.
¡Perfecto! She is a professional English teacher and has a vast amount of knowledge to teach. Due to the internet connection in my home, I cannot continue to study with her, however I seriously recommend everyone to take her class, especially those who need a teacher to lead your study in proper and effective way.
- Respuesta de Helen :
¡Perfecto! Thank you, Helen, for your professional feedback! I am very happy to hear that I achieved progress in my pronunciation and especially in my grammar. After a couple of months working with you I have recognized how important a correct pronunciation is to leave a good impression in both business and leisure. I can imagine that with your help I am motivated to prepare for IELTS :)
- Respuesta de Helen :
What impresses me about her the most is that she’s extremely enthusiastic about learning English and improving her oral and written skills. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that becoming fluent in English is one of her major life goals. That makes me particularly keen on teaching her since I know that she’s not studying hard just to pass an exam with flying colours or get an “A” in some test but mainly because she truly enjoys brushing up her skills.
We started off with untangling her ingrained pronunciation errors. Firstly, she couldn’t pronounce correctly sounds “V” and “W”. Since the sound “W” doesn’t exist in German, it was quite a challenge for Marie at first, but with constant practice and comprehensive feedback from me she managed to master them both to perfection.
Secondly, voiced “TH” and unvoiced “TH” proved to be quite difficult for her as well. I still correct her sometimes, especially with unvoiced “TH”, but her pronunciation is nothing like it was before - occasional errors are barely noticeable and we fix them as soon as she makes them. Marie clearly understands how to pronounce two sounds properly and the difference between them since we’ve spent many hours practising them together and recording special tutorials for her with more thorough and individual explanations. Therefore, even if she makes a mistake, it’s just a slip of the tongue, nothing more. I’m sure that with further practice even these “slips of the tongue” will disappear without a trace.
We continued with working on Marie’s grammar and vocabulary. For vocabulary improvement, we use lots of different techniques and strategies. Since the learning approach is tailored to Marie’s needs, we opted for a steady but constant progress - the learning curve doesn’t sore rapidly and we don’t intend it to.
After analysing Marie’s needs in detail I have come to a conclusion that in her case the progress needs to be consistent and evenly spread out. Only this approach will deliver significant results. We emphasise a stable improvement with long-term memory training rather than a quick but pointless short-term training. That’s why my innovative project - visual thematic speaking development sessions via Google Slides - appears to be most effective. It helps Marie immensely since she’s a visual learner so visualising expressions and idioms we study is a must for her.
In terms of grammar, we have also managed to achieve some tangible results. First and foremost, Marie has finally been able to put her finger on the correct uses of all advanced tenses- that wasn’t an easy task, but she coped with it successfully. Now we’re going to focus on weaving these complex tenses into the fabric Marie’s spontaneous speech. Further plans include embedding accurate uses of modal verbs into her daily English practice and amplifying the use of connectors.
To conclude, I’m incredibly grateful that Marie chose me to be her teacher. Teaching is not only about the knowledge and skills a teacher needs to possess in order for the learning process to be successful. It’s also about the student - whether s/he encourages the teacher to become the best version of herself/himself or not. Marie continuously inspires me to invent new, fun and even extraordinary assignments to always keep her on her toes and ensure that not only her English skills advance but also her imagination, creativity and perception of what learning is all about. I couldn’t have wished for a better synergy.
¡Perfecto! Thank you very much for your kindness, Helen =D As always, you describe the situation very accurately! Once again, I do recommend your classes to everybody who wants to take English learning seriously.
- Respuesta de Helen :
I explained Fernando all about my teaching method - communicative student-centred approach. I learnt it during my Master’s degree studies at Griffith University, Australia and have been implementing it in my teaching practice ever since. I emphasised that:
=> Meticulous analysis of his mistakes;
=> Creation of an individually tailored programme to assess all of the areas of his speech;
=> Finding the best and quickest ways to improve the problematic areas are one of the core aspects of my approach, so he can rest assured - he found what he was looking for.
After having taught Fernando for two months, I can confidently say that out of all aspects of an English language he was able to improve, pronunciation stands out the most.
Before we started the classes, he had a very vague idea about the way an English phonetic system functioned and how to properly pronounce some tricky English sounds. In addition, he had already learnt and gotten used to an incorrect pronunciation of quite a few sounds. Therefore, over the entire course of our studies, we were bending over backwards to fix the wrong pronunciation and incorporate correct sounds into his speech.
I admit it was no easy task ;)
Nevertheless, at the moment, I am more than happy to acknowledge that our effort has finally paid off.
When I hear Fernando speak now and compare his speech to what I heard two months ago, it’s like hearing two different people:
=> He significantly improved the articulation of all of his sounds, not just the ones he had difficulties with;
=> His problematic sounds have disappeared;
=> His general comprehension of the phonetic system has immensely improved.
Now, if Fernando expressed such desire, it would be possible to work on a creation of a particular native English accent: American, British, Australian, any accent he prefers, really.
That is a remarkable achievement that can not be overlooked.
In terms of other areas, I would like to pay attention to the changes in Fernando’s vocabulary.
The usage of adjectives and phrasal verbs became vividly noticeable in his speech. Moreover, something that I’m particularly pleased with, is that he started including into his language phrases, expressions and idioms that we covered during our regular classes and visual thematic speaking sessions. Every time I hear him use correctly brand-new idioms for him like “out of the blue”, “rings a bell”, “tip the scales” or “think outside the box”, etc., I feel like a child who was given a medal for winning a competition - happy and very proud :)
In terms of Fernando’s grammar, even though we considerably improved his understanding and usage of some basic grammatical tenses, including the tricky ones like Present Perfect and Present Perfect Continuous, we still have a lot of work to do, especially when it comes to prepositions, connectors, conditional sentences and advanced usages of modal verbs.
To sum up, I’d like to thank Fernando for being so committed to improving his English language skills. One of the moments that would melt any teacher’s heart is the one when even after a long and exhausting day at work, a student finds time and strength to do an English assignment a teacher had given him/her the day before. I’ve experienced plenty of those moments with Fernando, which makes me confident that he’s not going to stop improving his English language skills, even though it might be challenging at times. Hopefully, I’ll be able to continue guiding him on his learning path until he reaches a native-like proficiency.
¡Perfecto! I appreciate you so much Helen! You made not only my day, but a year! I feel like Christmas is coming! I have never thought of myself as such a great person. Thanks for your amazing review, it encourages me a lot!

In general, I’m very glad to acknowledge that Yuki has proven to be an exceptionally diligent student. Even though working on her mistakes was demanding for her at first, every class she kept proving to me that she wasn’t going to give up. She was clearly ready to overcome difficulties in order to achieve her aim.
It was inspiring for me to see this unyielding commitment in her.
In a nutshell, Yuki’s initial goal was to receive 6.5 overall in IELTS exam to apply for her studies at Griffith University, Australia. Her previous result was 6.0 overall and we had only 2 weeks of preparation to improve it. Therefore, I warned Yuki that this limited amount of time might not be enough to change the grade for the better. Yuki fully accepted that possibility and decided to go through an intensive preparation anyway.
Eventually, her effort paid off - she got 6.5 overall in just 2 weeks. We were on cloud nine when we received this amazing news! The result wasn’t completely unexpected though - the amount of effort she invested in the preparation was humongous.
Not only did she work hard during the classes trying to absorb and practice as much material as possible, but also she carefully did all of the home written and oral assignments to revise and reinforce everything that was learnt during the class. It’s no wonder that thanks to such a thorough approach to studies Yuki improved significantly over a short period of time and was able to achieve a desired overall grade in IELTS. I couldn’t be happier for her ;)
At the moment, we’re preparing Yuki’s oral and written skills to university studies, which, of course, isn’t a piece of cake. Nevertheless, I’m confident that she’ll be able to succeed in this area the same way she succeeded in her exam preparation. On my part, I’ll make sure to provide her with all the necessary knowledge and training so she could feel well-prepared.
In addition, I did my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Griffith Uni as well, so I am happy to share my personal experience with her, give some useful tips about the assignments and ensure that she figures out all ins and outs of university life in general. Hopefully, my profound involvement in Yuki’s uni studies will help her to avoid lots of pitfalls and make her transition into the university life less problematic and much easier.
¡Perfecto! Thank you very much Helen! This review makes me feel more motivated :) You are an inspiring teacher!

I had the pleasure of learning English with Helen, and it was an incredibly rewarding experience. Her teaching approach is engaging, clear, and tailored to individual needs, making every lesson both productive and enjoyable.
When preparing for the IELTS exam, I felt well-supported throughout the process. The lessons were structured, focused on key skills, and helped me improve significantly. Thanks to Helen, I was confident on exam day and happy with my results!
Beyond IELTS, I also made great progress in my overall English skills, particularly in speaking and writing. The lessons were not just about passing an exam—they truly helped me become more fluent and comfortable using English in different situations.
I highly recommend Helen to anyone looking to improve their English. Her dedication and passion for teaching make a real difference!
Amazing English Teacher!
I’m very grateful for my teacher who helped me improve my pronunciation and English in general without any difficulties. We are working online and I previously thought that this way of studying was useless, but I realized that it is actually very productive and interesting. I find that I can easily focus since every lesson is full of fun, jokes and pleasant surprises. I learn new material better with these funny moments.
I’m from Russia and English is very useful for my future. My biggest problem was the barrier to speak another language. However, Helen has found a special and tailored way to teach me properly, like a key to my heart She made me not be afraid to make mistakes and it is very important in my situation. Helen doesn’t become angry when I make the same mistakes whereas other teachers do. Moreover, she is very patient when I cannot come up with an idea or a correct answer. That is why I became confident in my abilities and now I am not shy to speak English freely in general and at school.
I like that Helen is super engaged in every session! We are both on our toes from the beginning to the end.
I would also like to share that Helen can help me with every question whether it is a task from school, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, punctuation, Cambridge exams or my personal problems.
She became not only a teacher for me, but also a psychologist, a friend, and just a person who I can trust.
We have been studying for one year, but I’m planning to continue and prepare for an IELTS exam to pass it with flying colors.
I cannot wait to continue studying English further to learn from my mistakes, enhance my skills and to become the best English speaker I can be!
To begin with, I’ve been living in England for the past 9 years. I went to school, uni, and now I’m in the middle of my PhD journey here. It's interesting, recalling the times when I was just about to move to the UK—everyone would tell me that after three months here, I would sound like a native speaker. They told me it would become my second mother tongue. I believed them and patiently waited for my English to improve from zero to hero. What a surprise—it never happened. The thing is, of course, you pick up new vocabulary, and even your pronunciation might improve a bit. But you DON’T LEARN THE LANGUAGE. Unfortunately, I think this is the most common mistake immigrants make: they stop actively learning, hoping for a miracle to happen.
A miracle did happen to me, though. One day, when I was meeting my very good and trusted friend Eduard, who also spent a decade in this country, and who has always focused on self-improvement, he told me about his lessons with Helen. I had been trying to find an English and accent reduction teacher before, but I never got past the first session. Most of them were very textbook-based, throwing all the sounds and intonations at you in the first session, and that was just overwhelming. At some point, I just gave up looking. I reluctantly accepted the fact that I would never become native-like; I would never enjoy talking in English the same way I do in Russian.
So, here I am, celebrating my first anniversary of learning English with Helen.
What can I say? Although I’m not the most diligent or hardworking student, my English has improved drastically. I notice that I use advanced vocabulary we learn on a day-to-day basis. We’ve polished many of the grammar mistakes I used to make, and I definitely sound better. Some people have even asked if I am from the States (my goal has never been to achieve a British accent). Most likely, that was just a conversation starter, and they were just trying to flirt, but I can’t help seeing it as progress. I’ve started hanging out more with non-Russian speakers. Now I enjoy it much more, thanks to the increased confidence and comfort in communicating. English is vital for my academic career. I teach undergraduates and constantly give presentations, and I feel it wouldn’t have been possible without Helen’s support. By the way, what I also like about Helen is how flexible she is. When an important presentation is approaching, we just focus on preparation, and I find those classes the most useful. We polish every single word I say, and the result turns out great.
To be honest, I’ve always hated studying languages. I hated studying my native language, as well as English, Spanish, and Arabic. But with Helen, it’s different. She is very creative with the tasks she prepares for each class. Having experience in teaching myself, I know how much time and effort it takes to come up with something truly effective and not boring. Of course, my English journey is still a work in progress, but at least I can confidently say: I DO NOT HATE ENGLISH ANYMORE. :))
I contacted Helen to help me prepare for the Duolingo English test. Helen is very friendly, creative and I could tell from the beginning that she has experience teaching the language.
We mostly worked on the picture description part, starting off with me just being able to come up with one sentence in the description and moving up to much more advanced descriptions using adjectives, modal verbs and creating a proper description strategy.
The studying process was very helpful for me, as the sessions were fun and interactive. They helped me understand what is required in the assignment.
My improvement was noticeable and that influenced my test’s score, as it was higher at the end of the sessions. Overall, I am very happy with the results.
Hi folks,
I’d like to share my amazing experience with Helen on my way to IELTS
I’m Alec. I first contacted Helen a few years ago for general English, and I contacted her again this time to prepare for IELTS. I remembered that we had great sessions back then so thought that she could help with my exam as well now.
I was in a very complicated situation since I already took IELTS 3 times but couldn’t achieve the desired grade. Moreover, I absolutely had to pass the exam the 4th time since I was past one of my deadlines and if I hadn’t pass it, I wouldn’t have been possible to continue my plan anymore.
First of all, I’d like to say that I’m incredibly grateful for Helen’s professionalism, dedication and patience. She was my mentor who guided me through this difficult path. I wouldn’t have got my grade without her. She was so concerned about my results! I could feel that I’m not alone, I felt a lot of support. At first, I was absolutely lost but thanks to Helen I gained a ton of confidence, I knew what to do. I can’t imagine going through this preparation without her since she was constantly supporting and encouraging me.
I need to say that asked Helen to have an extremely intense preparation in a very short amount of time and I’m really grateful that she agreed. We decided to have 2 classes per day one in the morning and one in the evening to be able to accomplish everything. I had a lot of mistakes, so it was really challenging to prepare for the exam on short notice.
We had to revise a lot of grammar. In addition, we went through every single part of the exam in detail.
I’ll write about every part.
During our work on the Writing part, we created many essays. She gave me a lot of feedback and checked essays together with me, explained my errors and taught me ways to fix them. The first writing part – diagrams, graphs and pie charts, didn’t come easy to me, but Helen helped me to understand what I needed to know, taught me the vocabulary I needed to have good results.
Regarding the Reading part, we did dozens of texts together! Helen not only taught me techniques necessary to pass the test, but also applied a lot of effort to expand my vocabulary. Wow! I didn’t expect that.
With the Listening part, Helen figured out what were my weaknesses and reasons why I couldn’t write correct answers. Such a relief! For some reason, I don’t know why, but my previous teachers couldn’t do it. Either those weaknesses weren’t the ones that needed to be fixed, or my teachers just didn’t communicate them to me properly, but I was stuck and kept failing this part. Unlike my other mentors, Helen managed to teach me exactly what was right and what I needed. Finally! I was so happy. I found out what I needed to do to avoid these mistakes and improve my grade.
I’m super lucky that I found such a brilliant teacher as Helen so I could accomplish my goals with her. I wholeheartedly recommend her classes. With Helen, you will gain confidence and the skills to achieve your goals since it does feel like your goals become hers as she says. She’s going to treat you as a best friend and help you with whatever you need.
Even though my exam preparation is over, I can still contact Helen whenever I need some assistance and I really appreciate that.Time with Helen is an experience, not a lesson!
Thank you and good luck!
My name is Debora, I am 34 years old. I am from Italy and I have been living in London for 10 years. I am thrilled to share my positive review of my teacher Helen.
Helen has been instrumental in helping me regain confidence as I returned to work after my maternity leave and took on a new role. Helen not only gave me confidence in my abilities, but also provided valuable advice and support throughout our sessions. She never hesitated to adjust her schedule to address my specific needs, even pausing our regular grammar studies to help me with sessions that directly benefited me in my role as an Operation manager, particularly in public speaking and email communication. She also helped me to enrich my vocabulary with some funny lessons dedicated to idioms learning, where you have to guess and create an idiom yourself based on associated pop-up images.
Thanks to this method and the pictures, when I try to remember the idiom, the image comes up in my head first and it “drags” the whole idiom in, refreshes our sessions, so I can use it off the top of my head.
Additionally, she recommended movies that helped me in my learning journey. After the sessions we often talk about life experiences and contemporary topics that make the lessons very enjoyable and never boring. Her approachability and flexibility made the learning process seamless, and her constant enthusiasm is truly a blessing. Helen’s lessons are not only enjoyable, but also show her genuine care for her students’ growth and success. I am immensely grateful for her guidance and support, which significantly impacted my personal and professional development.
My experience with Helen has been amazing. I met her through this app, because I needed to enhance my listening skills and create a good strategy in order to be able to pass my OET exam. From the beginning until the last class, she was very clear in her explanations, she always provided me different English material to practice by myself, and also she gave me the tools necessary to understand where I could change to improve my listening skills.
I recommend her 100% as an English teacher.
In my country it is very difficult to find an English teacher who would explain each rule in detail and in easy to understand format. It is also challenging to find a person who would practise the language with me, so I could improve my English speaking skills. Luckily, after a long search for different tutors, I came across Helen's profile. After I saw her video presentation, I immediately knew that I would like to have classes with her.
I was very happy with every Helen’s lesson. She always knows the material of any topic and can answer absolutely any of my grammar questions. On top of that, she always runs her classes with a positive attitude. What I really like is that she can always explain every nuance of the English grammar even when it sounds extremely complex.
Helen can definitely find an approach to each student. Besides, she always teaches all topics in an interesting way for better memorization. Initially, my goal was to prepare for the exam, but later I realized that I would like to retake English grammar with a good teacher.
I received a lot of necessary information that I did not know before. At the moment, due to some personal circumstances, I temporarily paused the classes, but I hope to resume them soon.Having classes with Helen has been a thoroughly enjoyable journey ever since it started. It's been a year now and she has displayed a conspicuous interest in helping me attain my goals regarding the English language.
From the very start, Helen’s professionalism has jumped off the page - constantly coming up with appropriate solutions to someone’s needs during the learning process requires a staggeringly high level of effort and dedication. Her teaching and evaluating methods have been constantly keeping me on my toes. I assume that having me as a student may have been challenging although she succeeded in making every class tremendously exciting.
I feel like one of my biggest achievements is overcoming the feeling of being looked down on by native speakers or very well-spoken people. My level of confidence has increased considerably and I am immensely grateful for it.
Additionally, I've noticed a massive improvement when it comes to writing uni essays and reports. The words are simply flowing now! I find it easier to word myself and it takes less time to think about what I’d like to express. Moreover, my work colleagues have observed the progress in my speech - they mentioned that my grammar as well as my pronunciation improved significantly and this makes me blissfully happy.
Everything expressed above makes me certain that she is an extraordinarily gifted teacher, and she made every class live up to the expectations. She has been bending over backwards to teach me all the ins and outs of the English language and I’m supremely confident that all our efforts will pay off.
On another note, we’ve genuinely connected not only as teacher and student, but also as friends. I wish so bitterly that we could have more than 2 classes per week because the time we spend together during the class seems to fly by so quickly!
To sum up, it’s been an utterly unforgettable experience. I am immensely grateful that she has not only been putting up with my busy lifestyle by adjusting the schedule to my needs, but also for her remarkable patience throughout this journey.Hello everybody,
My name is Felipe and I’m from Brazil. I contacted Helen a few months ago via Superprof. Since I moved to the UK, I was looking for a university to restart my professional life, so I decided to apply to some universities and I was asked to take an IELTS exam. At that point, I realised that I needed some serious professional help. The problem was that I became an English speaker only recently when I decided to leave my country and live abroad. I studied in an English school for 6 months when I was living in Dublin two years ago, but after that I never returned to my studies.
When I was searching for an English teacher, I noticed Helen’s profile and it impressed me a lot since it fully met all my requirements.
When I started studying with Helen I loved that she knows how to make me understand complex grammar by trying various approaches - If something is not clear to me, she will always find a way to deliver the information to me so that I get everything right.
She conducts the classes very well. In just one class, she can find and fix all the mistakes that I’ve made and discuss what we should do to further improve my grammar and pronunciation. She showed me grammar in such a brilliant way that today I can say I love studying English, it's not a boring thing like I thought before, but a lot of fun with her.
Overall, I’ve been studying with Helen for three months and I can speak properly, on a scale of 0-10, I reached 11. She is incredible. Natives, who surround me in my daily life, have already mentioned that I’ve started communicating much more clearly than before and that it’s way easier for them to understand me now. She definitely helped me to boost my pronunciation and now I feel I can finish my phrases completely without skipping the words. On top of all that, Helen gives me confidence to speak and write and homework that she gives me everyday helps me a lot as well.
To conclude, I recommend Helen to all of you guys. She is an amazing teacher and very friendly. She makes all the difficult things so easy, with everyday examples, I never forget what she says, that's fabulous! Classes exceed all my expectations. This is excellent. She is the best teacher I have ever encountered.
Without exaggeration, I believe that Helen is one of the best, if not the best teacher I have ever had - in terms of the depth of her knowledge, unparalleled observation skills and the ability to explain complex things in a way that each particular student will understand.
My name is Yahan, and I am from China. I started to learn English when I was in middle school, but I had little confidence in my oral English. I was always worried about making grammar mistakes while communicating, and sometimes I just “gave up”. I was thinking that I was making things easier for me by avoiding challenges, but it eventually only made my English worse.
I am currently studying law in London. The subject is particularly challenging for someone whose first language is not English. Moreover, there are a lot of oral exercises and mooting competitions at school. Helen helps me to prepare beforehand, and she always provides me with some valuable feedback. That’s why I find her sessions exceptionally effective.
On top of that, I like Helen because she is very responsive and fun! Her classes are pretty engaging. Whenever she corrects me, I can feel that she genuinely wants me to improve, so I find it easy to internalise her feedback. She also teaches me better and more native ways to express myself, so that I can use them in my daily conversations with my friends. I can tell that my English has been improving significantly since my first class with Helen. She has been really helping me to build up my confidence! I enjoy learning English with her!Hi! My name is Sophia and I’m German. I contacted Helen a few months ago because of my IELTS exam which was obligatory for my university studies. I wanted an ambitious and straightforward teacher who knows what she does and I chose Helen’s profile since it impressed me a lot. Now I can clearly say that contacting Helen was the best decision for my English knowledge.
From our first lesson, I was convinced that Helen was able to teach me English properly. I like that every single lesson she creates new individual learning strategies to make our lessons interesting and exciting. In the beginning, I had a lot of issues and mistakes with grammar. When I struggled with some rules, Helen used some of her memorabilia, toys, and stuffed animals to help me understand and remember the correct grammar forms and complicated vocabulary (in most cases I did remember ). That’s how we achieved awesome results!
Therefore, I believe that since I met her my English has improved a lot since I’ve been learning so many essential and distinct facts about my oral, writing and reading English skills.
To conclude, I recommend Helen to all of you, guys. She is a friendly and attentive person and you can speak with her about your expectations and plans for the lessons and what you would like to practice. I appreciate that I found Helen because she is the best teacher I ever encountered!
Helen is the best English language and accent coach that you can wish for. She is very knowledgeable, professional and competent. Every lesson with her was absolutely invaluable and a real eye-opener. Helen has got an eye for detail and she very quickly identified the areas that I needed to work on. There was a clear structure to every lesson and a clear pattern of progression during the course.
I feel that I have become more aware of my pronunciation and I have decided to keep in touch for extra ‘maintenance’ sessions with Helen every few weeks to further my skills.
Thank you, Helen, for your time, patience and expertise.Hello everyone! :)
My name is Larisa and I’m from Romania. I have contacted Helen because the lockdown has really challenged my English. The lack of practice and communication would make me feel self-conscious when speaking to someone. Therefore, I have decided to fix this problem and I found Helen. I could say it was a perfect match straight away! I checked the reviews and as soon as I saw her pictures, I knew she was the right person to train me in this matter.
I had my doubts about starting an English course as I was expecting the classes to be boring and to have a lot to write or to read (I'm not very fond of reading :) . However, Helen has exceeded my expectations and she has made all our classes fun and interesting. Besides, the methods she uses are so interactive! She is always using images, videos or objects to help me understand a subject. From video and audio recordings to karaoke recordings and funny dialogues, all activities are awesome!
What I like the most is that every class starts like a discussion between friends about random things from which she is pitching grammar and pronunciation mistakes without making me feel uncomfortable about them. She is such a genuine person and the vibe she is giving me every class is really nice.
All of the above has definitely had a positive impact on my skills and my grammar as well as my pronunciation. On top of that, I am getting my confidence back and all thanks to Helen. She is an amazing teacher!Helen is a very skilled and experienced tutor. Thanks to her, my pronunciation and grammar have improved. My confidence has grown and I feel more assured and assertive when I speak English or when I have to write English reports for work.
Helen is very approachable and flexible. She has a very personal approach to teaching, which makes it fun and which also makes it relevant to me. Instead of following a syllabus we came up with the subjects of the lessons together. The blocks of 4 lessons made it very orderly and transparent.
Without a doubt I can definitely recommend Helen!Working with Helen has been a wonderful experience! My British accent has greatly improved since we started our classes. My goal is to speak in a British and American accent effortlessly and naturally since I am an actor, and I would like to have variety in the roles which I audition for.
I like that we started with specific sounds that needed practice and efficiently moved onto the accent itself. Helen showed me the importance of being familiar and comfortable with particular sounds before learning the accent. I found it much easier to combine all the sounds I eventually learned, instead of jumping onto the accent from the start, as that would have been very confusing.
Coming into the accent class, I had no idea what to expect and where we would start from, as it was all very new to me. Helen was great at making me feel comfortable and letting me know which steps we would be taking so that I can eventually achieve me goal.
One of the teaching techniques that Helen advised me to follow was to record videos and re-watch them. This method really helped me with my accent improvement, and I am glad that I have resources to turn to if I ever need some refreshing. She also corrects my grammar whenever I struggle with something, which is very helpful.
Overall, I am very happy with how my accent is turning out and I enjoy our classes very much!I have been incredibly impressed with Helen as a teacher. I wholeheartedly enjoyed being taught by her, as she managed to maintain a strong work ethic and consistent improvement, whilst being a friendly and kind person. It is indeed delightful to realise that she has exceeded my expectations. I never thought that I could achieve such a quick result via Skype lessons. So far, we managed to create a British accent on the basis of my original accent and considerably expanded my vocabulary.
My primary goal was to equip myself with communication skills and extend my English knowledge beyond my area of expertise. Helen has most definitely achieved this by presenting themed presentations and examples tangible to real-life. Helen's greatest asset is her ability to embody her expertise in linguistics within useful and applicable contexts to facilitate learning.
Furthermore, she challenged me intellectually and motivated me to put more effort and devotion to obtaining the desired outcome. Helen is a very experienced teacher who is also empathetic, which helps her establish a powerful connection with her students. She is a woman of action, and her positive energy fills up everyone around her, motivating them to realise their full potential.
Helen is a nice, enthusiastic teacher with extensive knowledge of English and English teaching. I am Italian with problems in English pronunciation. Helen’s explanations and practical classes helped me a lot, so I strongly recommend Helen!!!
Hi! I’m Fernanda from Mexico.
Helen is the best teacher and friend.
My previous English teachers were always very bad and basic. That’s why as soon as I started the classes, I quickly stopped them because I didn’t have a good and dynamic teacher.
About a year ago, my husband asked me if I wanted to take English classes to improve my English, because his teacher Helen was very good, so I decided to accept his suggestion. And now it is incredible how much I have learnt with her!
She is not a typical English teacher. She is very dynamic and very sweet with my learning and I appreciate it a lot. Now I feel that not only do I learn a lot with Helen as an English teacher, but also with Helen who has become my new best friend. Also, I’m hoping to start preparing for my IELTS exam very soon.“I’m Helen’s student Fatemah from Saudi Arabia.
Learning English with a tutor like Helen is like finding a treasure I never dreamt about, and that’s the wisest decision I’ve made. Not only did my English improve, but also my self-confidence, because she works on my pronunciation and she makes my terrible English speaking sound more professional than before.
Before I met my tutor Helen my ultimate goal was just to upgrade my speaking skills to enhance the clarity of my speech for effective communication. However, after meeting her my goal grew beyond that, it became much bigger since now I would like to master English speaking to perfection and truly become an advanced English speaker. I am sure that she will help me to achieve that aim by making continuous and stepwise progress tailored to my needs.
Moreover, I like that she helps me to increase sentence length and complexity, properly use prepositions, irregular verbs in past tense, and increase the variety of sentence types (e.g. question tags, negatives, etc.)
I am enjoying studying English with my tutor Helen. She is a professional and an outstanding tutor. The classes are fun, engaging and her approach in teaching is interactive since she uses powerful and effortless techniques to make everything simple and easy to grasp despite the challenges I face during the studying process.
Now I really can't go back to the old superficial way of learning English. That’s why I would definitely continue this journey to advance my English and I can't wait for the outcome. "Hi everyone! I’m Monika and I’m from Paris, France.
Starting English courses with Helen is like finding my lucky charm. With her, you can master your English without jumping through hoops. Everything seems to be accessible, easy to achieve and time after time, you feel more confident. Additionally, Helen is good at transferring complex grammar rules to funny exercises. For example, she taught me idioms with visual thematic classes. They consist of a mix of pictures, definitions and specific exercises tailored to my individual requirements. The results were astounding! In less than two hours, I memorised and practiced six idioms and until today, I am able to use them in daily life.
It's amazing how I can remember my first class as if it was yesterday. We had to start from scratch because we had to review some basic English grammar. One of her strengths is her capacity to quickly identify your weaknesses and to give you all the needed clues without jumping the gun. Moreover, she helped me with some specific requests such as translating my French resume and creating some cover letters in English.
I recently asked Helen if she could help me to prepare Academic IELTS exam in quite a short amount of time (around 2 months). It is one of the most difficult exams to pass with flying colours because you have to be excellent in four fields at the same time (writing, speaking, listening, reading). Although my request seemed to be ambitious, she has taken this challenge and together we have been mastering my English, so I’m looking forward to taking an exam very soon!
But even before taking the exam, thanks to her, I am already ready to take on the world! Although I am not a native speaker, I feel more confident and strongly believe I have made incremental progress. My dreams are turning into reality.
To put it in a nutshell, I just would like to say : “Thank you, Helen, for your professionalism and patience”. I strongly recommend her classes to anyone who is looking for a teacher able to provide both entertaining and efficient English courses. My name is Matisse Lafond. I’m from Marseille, France.
Learning English with Helen is useful and effective. She is friendly while remaining professional. Since the beginning, she helped me to improve my English whether it was my way of speaking or my grammar. Moreover, her way of teaching is interesting because there are many hands-on discussions and interactions. She gave me a lot of examples to give clear illustrations of what we were learning during the lesson and develop my English grammar. On top of that, the resources she was sending me to reinforce my knowledge were extremely helpful, I really enjoyed using them.
Therefore, I fully recommend her classes to everyone.Helen is a highly qualified English teacher. The classes are challenging and I learnt a lot.
I got in touch with Helen to improve my accent and I was very satisfied with the methods we used to learn how to pronounce different letters correctly. It was immensely helpful. She also taught me how to use different formal and informal expressions, which my active vocabulary lacked.
The lessons are generally very structured and she also sent me video recordings of our lessons so I could review my own speech. In addition, Helen uses a lot of materials to enrich the lessons which helps to improve faster and makes the lessons more fun.
In summary, Helen is a nice and fun person who I really enjoyed working with and would contact again for more lessons.Helen is the best English teacher! She is a professional. By understanding my objectives and my English level, she personalized a plan for me, so I could work on my mistakes. At the same time I started learning new grammar, idioms, vocabulary and all what I needed to improve my skills. In addition, we have worked hard on my pronunciation and now I feel much more confident when I need to participate in conversations at work. Moreover, she constantly evaluates my progress, so we can pay attention to some specific points in order to correct them.
To continue, Helen has many resources to help you easily understand and successfully memorise the extensive English vocabulary. One of them are the visual thematic classes, which I found fascinating because it is immensely helpful to understand the meaning of an idiom or a phrasal verb by means of an image.
As Helen’s student, during every class I practised rigorously the skills I had to enhance. By now, I have learnt all of the key methods and techniques required to improve my listening, reading, writing and speaking. Mastering these abilities to perfection is of paramount importance to obtain a high grade in IELTS exam, which is my main aim at the moment.
Based on my experience, I strongly recommend Helen as a teacher. I am learning a lot and I am sure I will reach my goals very soon.I'm pleased to have Helen as my English tutor. I was a bit off base initially as to what was needed from me to take my English to the next level. Nevertheless, it’s not the case anymore since I came across her profile during my search for a personal CPE tutor.
To start with, Helen’s approach in teaching is unique as she actively engages the student throughout her classes. Personally, I found her way remarkably effective in consolidating the new knowledge and skills I've learned in English language in addition to making my English speaking sound more professional. Moreover, her devotion to her profession is evident from the effort she puts into preparing the classes and the way she individualizes them in accordance to my needs. For instance, I had the opportunity to try the visual thematic classes, which not only enriched my knowledge of English idioms, but also were fun and interactive.
All in all, Helen is a tutor who’s proficient in her endeavor. By attending her classes, I didn’t have to bend over backwards to take my English up a notch. I would definitely be happy to continue stepping up my English with her being my tutor and I am almost certain that I’ll pass my CPE with flying colors given her dedicated teaching.Helen is a very patient, kind and ambitious teacher. She is always prepared and creates funny and well-organised classes. Also, her teaching efforts have motivated me to learn more and fast.
I am a visual learner and I like the way that she explains grammar and vocabulary in pictures, videos or drawings. In addition, she is a very creative person, so she always comes up with new ideas or topics - a guarantee for inspired, entertaining and engaging lessons. Time seems to fly during the classes!
Since the variety of English teachers is enormous, during my search I specifically focused on looking for a native English teacher with a degree in teaching because among other things I wanted to improve my pronunciation. The strategy has paid off. Since I have started learning with Helen my pronunciation, especially this tricky TH sound, has become more native-like. Overall, it is very helpful that I understand the phonetic alphabet better than before, so now I make fewer mistakes in my pronunciation.
Another thing which has been improving very fast is my vocabulary extension. I hated learning vocabulary, but with Helen`s simple tricks, I have learned a lot of advanced vocabulary and now I am able to express myself clearly and coherently.
In terms of grammar, I have made progress in understanding and implementation of different tenses. I am very glad that Helen is such a sensitive person because sometimes I need more encouragement in my learning process. She knows exactly how to motivate me and as a result, my progress is immense. Therefore, if you are looking for individual English classes with a lovely, smart and funny teacher, I can highly recommend Helen. My name is Fernando. I’m from São Paulo, Brazil. When I was looking for an English teacher I was trying to find someone who would have an excellent education and who was well-experienced in teaching - you know, there are lots of English teachers out there, but not many have proper qualifications to do it. I could see that Helen undoubtedly has those qualifications that I was looking for from her amazing profile. After having started classes with Helen, I’d realised that I found so much more than I was hoping for: the quality of the teaching that I was receiving exceeded all my expectations.
Helen is a very enthusiastic teacher, she truly believes in what she does. After only a few minutes of a class, she can recognize your weak point and structure the class in order to correct them. I was impressed with the way she prepared the classes and dealt with both my weaknesses and needs. I've learned a lot with her, especially in terms of the vocabulary improvement, phonetics and grammar points like word order, adjectives and so on. Therefore, I highly recommend Helen to everyone who wants to improve their English skills.Hi there!
I’m Yuki from Tokyo, Japan. I have been learning English with Helen for the last 3 months. I have been enjoying lessons with Helen and have been fond of her personality from the very beginning.
Before I found her on the Superprof website, I was in big trouble with studying English in Australia. The reason was that the teachers were too easy-going and inaccurate, so I used to speak and write with many mistakes. However, Helen is completely different. She is meticulous and accurate in every aspect of English, e.g., grammar, punctuation, pronunciation and vocabulary. Also, her positive, cheerful personality is wonderful. She never forgets to encourage a student throughout the lesson. Moreover, she is very understandable and flexible when it comes to changing the course of studies. I’m pretty sure that I am a student with one of the most challenging requirements ever! But she always listens to me and tries to adapt to my requests in quite a flexible way.
Since I started learning with Helen, I think my confidence in speaking has dramatically increased. She pointed out my weak points, even though I had not noticed them before. It was an eye-opening experience for me! It gives me more courage to express my thoughts. Moreover, it is the same in grammar. Helen corrects my grammar mistakes and gives me a chance to review the grammar structure. It is such a relief to finally use the correct grammar and vocabulary. I haven’t used it correctly for ages!
Initially, my goal was to get 6.5 overall in IELTS score, so I could start my studies at Griffith University. Before I started the lessons I had 6.0 and we had just 2 weeks until the exam. Despite having such a short time to prepare for the test, Helen gave me some very clear advice regarding every part of the exam. Moreover, she tailored the curriculum structure for me. Eventually, it worked amazingly well - I got 6.5 overall in IELTS after 2 weeks of preparation.
Now I am studying with Helen to get ready for my degree “Bachelor of Creative and Interactive Arts”, which will commence next month. Thanks to Helen’s teaching, I feel inspired to start my new learning path. I am a fortunate student who could find Helen as my English teacher!
Hi there! My name is Laura and I’ve been Helen’s student for around 6 months now. I usually have classes 2-3 times per week depending what my schedule allows. I wish I could have classes more often, but I work-full time and have two kids so 2-3 times per week is the best I can do at the moment.
Every week we have classes that I absolutely adore! Helen calls them visual thematic speaking sessions. They are truly remarkable, I’ve never had a chance to learn English in such an innovative and easy way using Google Slides before. I remembered and actually started using in my speech so many useful phrasal verbs and expressions, I’ve lost count! And just imagine I was convinced a had a terrible memory and didn’t have a knack for languages at all (another idiom that Helen taught me last week, by the way). And my grammar improved without me noticing it at first. I’m so proud of it. I see from my friends’ and colleagues’ comments that my new enhanced vocabulary and grammar make me sound like a native-speaker! It had been one of my greatest ambitions for a long time, but I hadn’t been able to fulfill it until I asked Helen to become my tutor.
I work as a department head in a well-known consulting company, so my improved English skills help me a lot when it comes to getting my point across and avoiding any misunderstandings. Now I don’t have to explain anything twice, it saves me a lot of time.
Overall, I’m very satisfied with our classes. In addition, Helen is always full of beans and that makes learning so much easier! Even when I’m exhausted after an 8-hour working day, when I switch on my computer I know that Helen’s positive energy is going to transfer over to me.
I guess I could write for a really long time trying to mention all of my impressions. The bottom line is: thanks a lot, Helen! I’m so glad that I found you after so many failed attempts, can’t wait to improve my English further!Helen is a great professional. The way she teaches English is very pedagogic and fun at the same time. We practice grammar through interesting conversations steadily increasing the complexity of vocabulary. She enriches the learnings by introducing native expressions which I can use in my English conversations with business colleagues and friends. Moreover, she prepares and personalizes every class, taking into account past studies, reviews and new topics to settle your knowledge and ensure your progress. In addition, she provides quite a few good examples to support each lesson and help you understand the sometimes tricky English grammar. To sum it all up, she really makes the difference, I'm learning a lot and I feel much more confident about my English since Helen has become my teacher.
I have always been happy with our classes and Helen's way of teaching, really interesting and productive. Not only does she correct my mistakes during the classes, but also sends me recordings which point out what should I pay special attention too. Moreover, she records exercises designed to improve your pronunciation, when I get home I listen to them and repeat the sounds, practice them in front of the mirror. Some of my colleagues at work are crazy jealous cause my English is better than theirs now.
Helen is a great English language teacher. She uses innovative ways of teaching, which always make me feel motivated. The lessons are adjusted to my needs and involve a variety of modern resources. Moreover, her methods help me to improve my pronunciation and incorporate new vocabulary. Apart from that, she is an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who displays her extensive knowledge in every virtual meeting. Personally, I consider her as a supportive tutor. If you ask me, I wholeheartedly recommend her classes!
I like Helen’s way of teaching. Mixing up grammar material with vocabulary, sharing her experience of English learning, she made our classes saturated, dynamic and productive. However, what I liked the most were speaking clubs with Helen. Interesting topics, creative tasks and nice time spending with English practice. In general, my English level raised up tangibly after our lessons, as I attended classes willingly and gained pleasure from study.
Helen is a very qualified teacher, she tailors English classes to your needs and brings your skills to a whole different level. You won't get bored because she is very funny and she knows what to do in every moment to get your attention. In addition, she uses a very good method and always corrects your mistakes. Although she is a young teacher, her English knowledge is top-notch and because she speaks Spanish the learning curve is easier.
Helen is the best teacher that I have ever had. Her English classes are very complete because we continually go over the vocabulary we learnt in the previous class, practise the pronuntiation, do listenings, use collocations, etc. Moreover, her classes are really dynamic, we don’t stop, there is no time to loose. I feel that this is the first time that I am improving my English very fast! In a few months I have noticed that it has become much easier for me to understand a native accent. In addition, my speaking is better as well. Without any doubts Helen is the teacher that I have been looking for for years!
Helen has a very modern and dynamic method of teaching English. She adapts classes according to your individual needs, from conversation to grammar, from idioms to phrasal verbs, giving you a whole picture of the English language. As a consequence, I have improved my English by using constantly the things I am learning and I became a more efficient speaker. Helen takes classes very seriously and I strongly recommend you to try having classes with her so you can see by yourself what I mean.
¡Qué profe tan divertida y energética, me encanta!
I contacted Helen because I needed to improve my English because of my professional trip to Australia, Melbourne. She tailored the classes to my needs, we went through specific vocabulary, expressions and even the Australian accent. At the same time, she corrected my pronunciation and gave me alternatives to expressions that I was repeating too much or sounded too formal/informal depending on the situation. To sum up, I not only improved my English vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation but I also learned a lot about Australian culture!
Helen tiene un método de enseñar inglés muy moderno y estimulante. Adapta sus clases a las necesidades de cada alumno. Además, son muy variadas y ofrecen una visión global del idioma inglés. Por todo lo anterior, considero que he mejorado mi nivel de inglés y lo hablo con mucha más fluidez porque con Helen se usa constantemente lo que se aprende. Asimismo, Helen se toma las clases muy en serio, y por lo tanto os recomiendo comprobéis lo que digo.
Helen has a really good pedagogic way when it comes to teaching English. We learn English theory from the practise and conversation using examples and topics that are interesting to me. Furthermore, we constantly revise all things that I'm learning, so I can memorise new vocabulary and grammar more efficiently. Her English classes are very personalised and based on topics, vocabulary and theoretical aspects that I need. I realise I'm really improving my English.
My impressions are really great. I love the lessons and everything we’re doing. Texts are always short and gripping, exercises cool and unconventional. Moreover, Helen is teaching me British accent - next year I’m planning to go to London to do my Master’s degree, so a good accent is a must-have.
Helen is an excellent, professional and funny teacher, which makes her classes easy to follow and we learn in a simple way, in other words, we learn without realizing it. Moreover, she is a perfectionist in her classes. In my case this is very important because i am preparing to get a CAE certificate. She makes the exam preparation less hard and also gives me some advice, e.g. she recommends what to say or not in the speaking part. I couldn't have chosen a better teacher to prepare me for a CAE exam.

I have vast experience in creating effective and individual exam preparation programs for students of all levels, but please keep in mind that the minimum amount of time required to successfully complete any exam preparation is 2-3 months - practice clearly demonstrates that smaller time periods are insufficient to become a game-changer.
Please keep in mind that if you’d like your results to be tangible and sustainable, you should commit to having at least 2-3 classes per week. Think of mastering your English language skills as training your muscles - are you going to be able to gain any noticeable muscle strength going to the gym just once per week? Not likely. Without a strong commitment, your muscles are going to quickly forget any training they underwent. The same applies to your English skills. That’s why the minimum amount of classes conducted per week is 2.
I’m looking forward to helping you to achieve your English language goals :)
